CTE Curriculum
Prepare learners with CTE curriculum aligned to industry standards.
Dr. Kelly Colley
CTE Coordinator
What are your key CTE responsibilities in your current job role?
I am the leader of CTE programs at The Villages High School. I oversee our 11 different CTE programs. Our CTE department includes 22 teachers and is the largest academic department on our campus.
Why do you feel CTE is important to the future of education?
It is exciting to see our education systems turning back to a career focus. Our workforce and economy are dependent on skilled workers. Our students will have a higher quality of life overall if they keep the job and career market continuously in their minds as they pursue training and opportunities past high school.
What is the biggest benefit students can receive from enrolling in CTE programs/course?
Our students gain applicable knowledge and skills in CTE programs. Instead of just learning content, they learn both how to use their skills and why they are important. This helps them become reliable employees when they enter the workforce.
What are some of your hobbies?
I am a runner. Even though I am not a speeder, I race at least three or four half marathons and one full marathon annually. I also serve as a coach for our cross country and track teams.
