CTE Curriculum
Prepare learners with CTE curriculum aligned to industry standards.
Mike Meissner
Power Technology Instructor
What are your key CTE responsibilities in your current job role?
I currently work as a CTE instructor in our Power Technologies program. I’m responsible for teaching students how to safely work with heavy equipment so they can be employment-ready in our community.
Why do you feel CTE is important to the future of education?
We have a significant gap in the number of graduates we need to fill jobs in the skilled trades. Programs such as Power Technologies help students gain valuable knowledge and experience they’ll need to help close this gap right after high school.
What is the biggest benefit students can receive from enrolling in CTE programs/course?
I can think of two major benefits: certifications and hands-on experience. There’s no replacing hands-on experience in preparing students for career success. Industry certifications ensure students are ready and give them a credential to start working right after finishing their program.
What are some of your hobbies?
In my free time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and coaching football.
