Lubbock, Texas (April 17, 2024)

The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and iCEV, a leading producer of Career & Technical Education (CTE) curriculum, industry certification preparation and testing, and data management, have partnered to help learners prepare for industry-recognized AAFCS credentials.

Through this partnership, iCEV will provide certification alignments featuring dynamic instructional materials for credentials within the national Pre-Professional Assessment and Certification (Pre-PAC) program offered by AAFCS and the FCS Credentialing Center.

“Certification is a preferred qualification for employers and can help FCS professionals stand out in a competitive job market. By partnering with iCEV, the AAFCS is delivering on our promise to support students and professionals in the Family and Consumer Sciences by securing additional resources to help them on their path to certification,” said Karin Athanas, executive director of AAFCS.

The Pre-PAC portfolio of standards-based assessments and industry-recognized credentials covers content areas such as Leadership Essentials; Nutrition, Food, and Wellness; Food Science Fundamentals; and more. These credentialing assessments are all designed to satisfy the increasing emphasis on assessment and accountability in secondary and postsecondary education, including requirements for Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) funding for Career and Technical Education. They also address the emphasis on credentials as a human resource and quality control tool in employment settings.

“The Pre-PAC program offers a number of benefits to those seeking to improve their employability in today’s workforce, as well as to the education programs, employers, and community-based programs supporting those individuals,” said Dusty Moore, CEO of iCEV. “Now, through the partnership with AAFCS, we are able to provide our certification alignments offering comprehensive instructional materials to help individuals successfully earn Pre-PAC certifications as part of their ongoing career journey.”

Along with the 18 industry certifications hosted on the iCEV Testing Platform, iCEV offers preparation content for more than 70 other certifications, such as AAFCS Pre-PAC credentials. These preparation courses include video instruction and hands-on and project-based learning opportunities to help learners master the standards assessed on a given certification exam.

With the certification alignments, educators and employers can assess learners’ current knowledge and then build learners’ skills through interactive coursework based on real-world scenarios. Media-rich videos and presentations aligned directly to certification standards also allow learners to acquire foundational concepts, while knowledge checks prepare learners for the certification experience.
