A1. Career Exploration & Planning

Setting a goal can be a confusing process for some students, but using the SMART acronym can help students in the goal-setting process. This presentation will explain the difference between goals and objectives, short-term and long-term goals and personal versus business goals.
Discovering what to do for a career can be challenging and overwhelming. This presentation presents factors that affect career decisions, such as personal interest and skills, work-life balance and job outlook. The benefits and methods of self-assessment are also explored, as well as ways to further investigate career fields of interest.
The Career Cluster Interest Inventory is designed to help students determine which Career Cluster and corresponding endorsement area best fits their interests and skills.

iCEV has an Exploring Careers lesson for each of the 16 Career Clusters. Each lesson provides the following:
- Video content providing an overview of the cluster, along with exploration of careers found within each cluster pathway
- Career Exploration Journal Projects which serve as way for students to create a potential career plan for a career of interest within the cluster.
- Career Connections segments featuring career interviews with individuals across the United States with careers within the cluster, along with a Career Interview Activity designed to help students determine level of interest for that specific career.
A2. Employability Skills for College & Career Readiness

The first step to securing most jobs is the job application; therefore it is vital to know how to properly fill one out. This presentation identifies the common components of job applications and provides advice concerning how collect, fill out and submit applications. Common mistakes made on job applications are also discussed.
The résumé is the most basic and necessary of career-building tools, so it is vital for students to develop an effective one. This presentation guides students through the process of developing a résumé. It discusses information to be included, appropriate formatting and how to deliver a résumé to a potential employer.
Cover letters are often essential when seeking jobs. This presentation discusses the goal of a cover letter and how cover letters can be beneficial. The components and format of cover letters are analyzed and tips for writing cover letters are provided.
A career portfolio is a valuable, in-depth tool used to communicate an individual’s abilities, strengths and accomplishments. This presentation explores the items commonly found in career portfolios and explains the purpose and benefits of having a career portfolio. In addition, recently employed graduates provide students advice for creating and using a career portfolio.
The interview process can be stressful, but preparation can help to ease the pressure. This presentation explains the importance of preparation and practice and guides students through preparation strategies. The need to research the company and position are discussed. In addition, common interview questions are revealed and analyzed.
The interview is arguably the most important part of the application process, and it can be nerve-wracking for those who are unfamiliar with it. This presentation guides students through the process of a typical job interview. Various methods of interviewing are identified, and tips regarding classical “do”s and “don’t”s are provided. In addition, the presentation includes an example of a poor interview performance and an impressive interview performance.
This presentation discusses leadership, leadership styles and the process of being a good leader. Teamwork, team building and personality types for team development is also discussed.
This presentation outlines employee compensation, such as benefits, methods of pay and various types of income deductions. Work related forms are also discussed.
A3. Personal Financial Management & Planning
** Lesson is a part of the preparatory content for the Center for Financial Responsibility Personal Financial Literacy CertificationBudgeting is the process of creating a plan to spend money. It allows people to determine, in advance, whether they will have enough money for their needs and wants. This presentation teaches students to identify current financial situation; investigate individual’s money personalities; develop short-, medium and long-term goals; separate need from wants and examine budgets which incorporates their financial goals.

A4. Workplace Safety
This presentation introduces the steps of the scientific method, as well as demonstrates the importance of safety in the science lab. The history of major discoveries and inventions attributed to science are also explored. Throughout this production, students will gain an understanding of developments made through science, as well as the limitations it encompasses. Agricultural and food scientists discuss various issues impacting future research.
Without safe and healthful practices, the food industry can cause many injuries and illnesses. Therefore it is extremely important for members of the food industry to understand food and workplace safety. This presentation will allow students to learn about and analyze regulations, systems and practices which promote safety in the food industry.
The world of work and its impact on family life has changed dramatically during the past few decades. This presentation will explore the role of technology in all aspects of the workplace and its effect on the personal and family environment. The organizational structures and legal implications in the workplace will also be examined. Workplace programs promoting good nutrition and exercise are described as well. Environmental and safety practices at work are explored.

A5. Agricultural Literacy
Agriculture is a large part of the world’s economy and everyday life. This presentation provides a general knowledge of all aspects of agriculture and its importance. Throughout this presentation students will learn about the agricultural pathways, issues within agriculture, trends and technology in agriculture, educational opportunities and global agriculture.
Students will explore the concept of farm-to-table to understand the production process. Students will learn about the different food production practices and understand different facts about their food and how it is made. Students will also learn of many misconceptions in the food industry.
Completion of the certifications listed below verifies individuals have obtained exceptional knowledge and skills required for post-secondary education and the workforce, serving as the foundation for any Immersion SAE.
